Privacy policy

Smile App Launcher is built to leave you alone. It has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising network. This page lists everything the app touches on your phone and what happens to it, so you can check the claim instead of trusting it.

The short version

Eggvelop collects no personal data from Smile. Everything the app knows lives on your device. We cannot see your apps, your shortcuts, your calendar, your location or your wallpaper, and we have no server that receives them. Delete the app and it is all gone.

What the app uses on your device, and why

• The apps and shortcuts you add. Stored on your device in the app’s private storage, shared only with Smile’s own widgets. Never sent anywhere.
• Calendar (read-only). Only if you enable a calendar widget and grant access. Smile reads upcoming events to draw the widget. Events are read on the device and never leave it.
• Location (once, while using the app). Only if you enable a weather widget and grant access. Smile uses your location to find your area for the forecast. The coordinates are sent to Apple’s WeatherKit to fetch the weather; they are not sent to Eggvelop and not stored beyond what is needed to refresh the forecast. Weather data is provided by Apple Weather. Legal attribution: weatherkit.apple.com/legal-attribution.html.
• Photos (add only). If you use the calibration tool for transparent widgets, Smile can save a generated grid image to your photo library. It cannot read your photos through this permission.
• A screenshot you import. For transparent widgets you can import a screenshot of your Home Screen. It is stored on your device, cropped into widget backgrounds on your device, and never uploaded.
• Usage counts and limits. If you set daily limits, Smile counts opens on the device to enforce them. The counts stay on the device.

If you use iCloud backup, iOS may include Smile’s data in your device backup under your own Apple Account, governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Purchases

Premium is sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles payment, receipts, subscriptions and refunds. Smile receives from Apple only what is needed to unlock what you bought: a confirmation that a purchase is valid. Eggvelop never sees your payment details, and no purchase information is sent to Eggvelop’s own systems, because there are none.

Editor’s Choice and external links

The app occasionally shows a short video recommending a product we like. The videos are bundled inside the app; playing them contacts no server. If you tap through to a partner’s website, the App Store, Discord, YouTube or the iCloud shortcuts we link, you leave the app and those sites’ own privacy policies apply. Some partner links carry a referral code that identifies Eggvelop as the referrer, not you.

What we don’t do

We don’t collect analytics, crash reports through third-party tools, advertising identifiers, device fingerprints or contact details. We don’t sell, rent or share data, because we don’t hold any. The App Store privacy label for Smile says “Data Not Collected”, and that is the whole story.

All ages

Smile is rated 4+ on the App Store and is safe for anyone to use, children included, for the same reason as everything above: it collects no information from anyone, of any age. There is nothing for a parent to review or delete on our side.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have rights to access, correct, export and erase personal data held about you. Since Eggvelop holds none, there is nothing for us to export or erase; everything is under your control on your device. If you believe we do hold something about you, email us and we will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet).

Changes

If the app starts doing something new with data, this page changes first, with a new effective date at the top, and the change is described in the App Store release notes.
