Terms of use
Smile App Launcher is made by Eggvelop ApS (CVR 44287463), a small studio in Denmark. These terms are the agreement between you and Eggvelop for using the app. They replace Apple’s standard end-user licence for Smile. By installing or using Smile you accept them. If you don’t, please don’t use the app.
What Smile is
Smile is a launcher for iPhone: widgets that open the apps and shortcuts you choose, with optional daily limits, pauses and reminders to help you use your phone more deliberately. It works on top of iOS features such as Home Screen widgets, the Shortcuts app, Calendar and Weather. Those features belong to Apple and behave as Apple designs them. Smile can only do what iOS allows, and iOS updates can change what is possible.
Screen-time limits, blocks and pauses in Smile are aids, not locks. They rely on you keeping the setup in place. We don’t promise they will stop anyone who wants to get around them.
Your licence
Eggvelop grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Smile on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the usage rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions. Family Sharing is allowed where Apple offers it. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law gives you that right regardless of these terms.
Free and Premium
The core of Smile is free. Premium unlocks extra widgets and styles. Premium is sold through Apple’s App Store in three forms:
- Smile Premium Weekly and Smile Premium Monthly are auto-renewable subscriptions. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown at purchase, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings, not in the app. Cancelling stops future renewals; the current period keeps running until it ends.
- Smile Lifetime is a one-time purchase that unlocks Premium for as long as the app exists, on every device signed in with your Apple Account.
Prices are shown in the App Store in your local currency before you buy and can change over time. Where the law requires it, you will be told about a price change before it applies to you. Billing, receipts and refunds are handled by Apple under its own terms; Eggvelop cannot issue refunds directly. You can restore earlier purchases from inside the app.
Your data stays yours
Smile has no accounts. Everything you set up, including apps, shortcuts, limits, widget styles and any screenshot you import for transparent widgets, is stored on your device and in your iCloud device backup if you use one. Eggvelop cannot see it. The privacy policy describes exactly what the app touches and why.
Third-party services and recommendations
Weather widgets use Apple’s WeatherKit. Calendar widgets read your calendar through Apple’s EventKit. Shortcuts run in Apple’s Shortcuts app. Each of those is governed by Apple’s terms.
Smile occasionally shows an Editor’s Choice: a product we personally like, such as a physical device that pairs well with a calmer phone. These are our own picks, not paid ad placements from a network. Some links carry a referral code that may earn Eggvelop a commission at no cost to you. Those products are sold by other companies under their own terms, and Eggvelop is not responsible for them.
Maintenance and support
Eggvelop, not Apple, is responsible for maintaining and supporting Smile. Reach us at Jonathan@eggvelop.com or in the Smile Discord. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
Warranty
Smile is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, Eggvelop makes no warranty that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose. If Smile fails to conform to any warranty that does apply, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price you paid for the app, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Smile, and any other claim, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty is Eggvelop’s responsibility.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under Danish or EU law, or under the mandatory law of the country you live in.
Responsibility for claims
Eggvelop, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to Smile or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
If a third party claims that Smile or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Eggvelop, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Eggvelop is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Smile, and its total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Premium in the twelve months before the claim. This does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Legal compliance
You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You agree to comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, for example the terms of the Shortcuts you run.
Apple as third-party beneficiary
Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. When you accept them, Apple has the right, and is treated as having accepted the right, to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Ending the agreement
You can end it at any time by deleting the app. Eggvelop may end it if you materially breach these terms. Ending the agreement does not refund purchases, which remain governed by Apple’s terms.
Changes
We may update these terms when the app or the law changes. The current version is always at eggvelop.com/smile-app-launcher/terms, with its effective date at the top. Continuing to use Smile after a change means you accept the updated terms. Material changes to paid features will be announced in the app or in the App Store release notes.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Danish law. Disputes are settled by the Danish courts, except that consumers keep the right to bring proceedings in their own country where the law provides for it. EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
