Smile App Launcher
A minimalist launcher for iOS
Smile App Launcher turns a noisy iPhone into a calm, focused device. It is a free "dumbphone" style launcher on the iOS App Store: your apps as words on a home screen widget, no badges, no clutter, just the handful you actually reach for. It has grown its own home at smileapplauncher.com; this page is the studio's view of it.

Smile keeps everything on your phone and collects nothing. The two documents say exactly that, in plain language.
The fine print
Why we built it
Phones are designed to pull you in. Smile is the opposite: a launcher that gets out of the way. It started as a personal experiment in making the home screen quiet, and enough people loved it that it earned its place on the App Store. Two years on it has a Premium tier, a Discord full of people shaping it, and translations in 47 languages.
It has its own home now
Smile outgrew this page in September 2026. The guides, the full feature list and the development log live at smileapplauncher.com, and the app itself is on the App Store. What stays here is the studio side of the story: Smile was the first thing Eggvelop shipped, and it is still the one most people know us for.
What it does
- Words, not icons
- Ten widgets, each a list of app names in the typeface and colour you pick. The home screen stops shouting.
- Limits and breathers
- Give an app a daily limit, or a pause screen before it opens. The apps that pull you in get a little friction; the rest open instantly.
- Nothing leaves your phone
- No account, no analytics, no server. Everything Smile knows lives in the App Group on your device.
